Empire State Building Workplace Shooting

New York | Police: A workplace shooting has taken place this morning at the Empire State Building in New York.

A workplace shooting has occurred at the Empire State Building this morning. FBI states not act of terrorism.

Senator Malcom Smith states suspect was fired yesterday, came back and shot manager this morning and came out on street shooting wildly.

At least 8 people shot, two dead including gunman (shot and killed by NYPD). Children’s field trips were in the area per ABC7. Press conference with NY Mayor pending.

    Per NYPD Suspect Jeffery Johnson, 53, entered his former workplace, Hazen Imports, shot his former manager, age 41, three times in the head at close range with a 45 caliber hand gun. Johnson then exited the business and began shooting wildly. NYPD stated that a construction worker alerted police. Johnson turned his gun on two officers who then shot and killed Johnson.

    An additional nine people were injured, per NYPD; two women and seven men, all mid-aged, sustaining non-life-threatening injuries. No children and no elderly persons were injured.

    The entire area around the Empire State Building remains a crime scene per NYPD.
