Deputy Mitchell was murdered on a traffic stop in 2006. His killer(s) is still at large.
Deputy Jeffrey Mitchell – End of Watch: October 27, 2006
In the early morning hours of Friday, October 27, 2006, Deputy Jeffrey Mitchell was patrolling a rural area of Sacramento County near Meiss and Dillard Roads. At about 3:30 a.m., Deputy Mitchell contacted Sheriff’s dispatch from his vehicle computer saying he was going to stop a white Chevrolet van that he was following. The van did not have a rear license plate. A few minutes later Dispatch tried to reach Deputy Mitchell to check on his welfare. No response was received from Deputy Mitchell. Immediately other patrol vehicles were dispatched to the location of the vehicle stopped made by Deputy Mitchell. (more…)

Recent shooting is now being investigated as a homicide. On Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at 3:37 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 3800 block of Robinridge Way. Officers located the male Asian victim, in his late teens, who was unresponsive and transported to the hospital by medical personnel. (more…)

A grass fire burns a neighborhood field surrounded by homes. When the blaze takes a run toward the homes, firefighters make a quick attack saving the structures
At 9:11PM Tuesday, SFD firefighters were called out for a grass fire in a Parkway South neighborhood. The fire was spreading towards homes at the end of Clover Glen Way. Firefighters quickly got control of the blaze before it got too close to the homes. Sacramento Firefighters responded to the old vacant car dealership at the corner of Franklin and Florin Friday afternoon for the third time in two weeks. Assistant Chief Niko King stated that they expect to be responding to the structure again and have been pre-planning. (more…)

Collision with rollover turns hit and run downtown to start the weekend
Late Friday night, an accident occurred at the intersection of Capital Avenue and 17th Street where a Dodge Durango crashed into a sports vehicle and rolled on its side. The driver of the Durango fled the scene shouting “life sucks” according to witnesses. No one was transported to the hospital in this incident however SacPD is searching for the driver of the Durango.
Stolen Washington vehicle and 13-year-old missing person turns up in South Sacramento, Pursuit, Crash, 4 minors injured
In the course of responding to an unrelated 911 call, SacPD officers encounter a stolen vehicle out of Washington State. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the 13-year-old driver, a missing person out of Washington as well, fled from officers down 21st Ave and crashed into a sound wall at 21st Ave and Deeble Street. All occupants in the vehicle were between 13 and 15 and sustained minor to moderate injuries. At least one occupant had to be extricated from the vehicle. All four occupants of the vehicle were transported to the hospital.
Tidee Didee Diaper Services catches fire
A fire broke out in a commercial structure in South Sacramento early Saturday morning, just a few business away from where a major business fire took place just a few weeks ago. This fire was quickly extinguished and contained to one container in the structure.
Two vehicles burned in Natomas Saturday morning may have been hate crime per witness
Two suspects were witnessed throwing Molotov cocktails into two vehicles early Saturday morning then fleeing through an apartment complex off of Truxel Road and Garden Highway. A police radio report stated that a burglary report was taken yesterday morning for a “door kick” to the apartment of the owner of one of the vehicles. Our eye-witness believes this was a targeted hate crime due to the sexual orientation of the victims.
Sheriff SWAT team mounts up to move in on a Florin home where a woman was fatally shot earlier in the morning.
Sacramento, CA | Suspects from a Florin home are being sought for the shooting death of a 38-year-old woman.
At approximately three o’clock Wednesday morning, a man and a woman were out on the sidewalk in front of a residence in the 7900 block of Loucreta Drive in the Florin neighborhood of South Sacramento when a male from the residence came out and told them that they needed to leave, according to Deputy Jason Ramos, spokesman for the Sacramento County Sheriff Department.
