Sacramento, CA | Amgen’s Tour of California hit Sacramento Monday fast and furious.
After weather issues plagued Amgen’s Tour of California start Sunday, the first stage of the race began Monday in an alternate start site outside Sacramento. The police escorted racers entered Sacramento, via crossing the American River over Northgate, over Route 160 and into Downtown Sacramento by way of 12th Street. Read more »

Officer as color guard escorts the US Flag into the vigil (click this image to see more photos of this event)
Sacramento, CA | Sunday night at the California Peace Officers’ Memorial, located at 10th Street and Capitol Mall across from the Capitol, a candlelight vigil was held to honor the memory of fallen Peace Officers, and to add 11 more names to the honor roll.
Peace Officers from around the State and as far as San Diego made the trip not to only pay tribute to those fallen Officers, but to help keep the memories fresh in citizens’ minds, so that these great sacrifices will not be forgotten. Read more »

Rancho Cordova, Sacramento, CA | A husband and wife suffered minor injures and their pets died in a stubborn early morning Rancho Cordova house fire.
At 1:20 AM Saturday morning, the call came in to 911 for a residential structure fire in the 2500 block of Queenwood Way.
Firefighters stated that the roof of the home consisted of metal over shake shingle which severely hampered firefighting efforts. Nearly two hours into the incident, firefighters were still strategically apply water to the hot areas of the roof attempting quench the fire. Read more »

An Asian male was apprehended Monday afternoon after apparently brandishing a revolver amongst juvenile(s) walking home from school in Oak Park.

SSD Deputies apprehend sexual assault/home invasion perp (click this image to see more photos from this incident)
Sacramento, CA | After eluding deputies, K9 and a CHP helicopter Saturday morning, deputies apprehend the suspect in the afternoon.
A suspect SSD had been attempting to apprehend all day in the south area was apprehended Saturday afternoon.

The suspect was later identified as Renell Thorpe and is being held on $1.6 million bail and charged with kidnap to commit another crime, Oral copulation by force, penetration by foreign object, assault with intent to commit rape, false imprisonment, first degree robbery, and violation of parole. Thorpe has an extensive criminal resume in Sacramento dating back to 1998 according to county records. Read more »

Sacramento, CA | An alleged drunk driver crashed into an occupied taxi cab early Saturday morning in Downtown Sacramento, next to City Hall.
Early Saturday morning, at the intersection of I St. and 10th St., a drunk driver crashed into an occupied taxi cab.
Two people were transported to the hospital in critical condition, a third was transported with minor injures. Read more »
