Officer Michelle Lazark, SacPD and backup officer question sword carrying traveler at Amtrak station
From random pellet gun shootings to flaming vehicle crashes and stabbing homicides, Sacramento ran the gamut of incidents Monday.
The mid-morning activity began with a report of a man with a sword at the Amtrak station downtown and early reports of the arrest of a murder suspect in a south area stabbing incident.
In the afternoon a four car collision on Business 80 at Exposition resulted in a fiery blaze and one person injured.

Sheriff SWAT team mounts up to move in on a Florin home where a woman was fatally shot earlier in the morning.
Sacramento, CA | Suspects from a Florin home are being sought for the shooting death of a 38-year-old woman.
At approximately three o’clock Wednesday morning, a man and a woman were out on the sidewalk in front of a residence in the 7900 block of Loucreta Drive in the Florin neighborhood of South Sacramento when a male from the residence came out and told them that they needed to leave, according to Deputy Jason Ramos, spokesman for the Sacramento County Sheriff Department. A large fire broke out in a field, Saturday, July 14, 2012, north-east of Downtown Sacramento in Rio Linda. When fire crews arrived, nearly ten acres had already been consumed and was making a run, crossing one creek and headed toward the next. Firefighters made a stand at the road and held the fire there. Sac City Firefighters extinguish occupied burning vehicle after early morning rollover accident
Sacramento, CA | The solo occupant of a vehicle was killed early Saturday morning when his car crashed and burst into flames.
Early Saturday morning, a vehicle traveling south on highway 99 from Florin was traveling at a slow rate of speed and straddling the slow lane and shoulder at approx 65MPH according to CHP. Read more »

DART diver prepares to go down and execute a training exercise in the flowing, murky, Sacramento River
Sacramento, CA | As the heat turns up, so does the ratio on drowning potentials on Sacramento’s waterways.
Tuesday evening, DART Team members conducted a training exercise in the Sacramento River at the Broderick Boat Ramp in West Sacramento. The team trained on manual dexterity by diving down and working with commonly found entanglements under water. Read more »

Firefighters work from an aerial ladder to make roof safe so they can enter the structure.
Sacramento, CA | When a fire truck crew arrived on scene of a house ablaze Thursday afternoon, they had to wait for an engine with water to arrive due to budget cuts.
Thursday afternoon, Sacramento firefighters were called out to a blaze in the Oak Park area. When Truck 6 arrived in three minutes (trucks carry no water) the structure was fully involved with fire. The first engine, Engine 10 (carrying water), arrived in 6-8 minutes; Engine 6 (who likely would have arrived with Truck 6) was browned out due to budget cuts. Read more »

Students clad in orange jumpsuits have their say with the press after hijacking a Regents meeting in progress.
A peaceful and productive meeting was underway Wednesday until protesters took over.
A pivotal UC Regents meeting took place Wednesday morning and was held on the third floor of the Sacramento Convention Center. Security was quite high with a large multi-agency police presence including mounted units, bike units, motorcycle cops, plain clothed and more. Read more »
